Cochin HIGHLIGHTS (on 10th April 2 PM to 6 Pm)

Cochin is the jewel in the crown of Kerala with its European heritage and true cosmopolitan temperament. Take a leisurely walk through its streets and discover all that the city has to offer, from its natural harbor to its historic sites.

The sightseeing of Fort Cochin excursion tours all the most important attractions of Cochin, including Fort Kochi, the Dutch Palace, the Jewish Synagogue and St. Francis Church.

Fort Kochi was founded in 1503, and is a place where history, like a friendly phantom, still stalks the lonely streets. One can see many remains of Indo-European architecture that still exist here. One of the fascinating sights on the Kochi shoreline is the huge cantilevered Chinese fishing nets which were brought here by traders from the court of Kubla Khan.

Visit the Dutch Palace at Mattancherry. It was built by the Portuguese and presented to the Cochin Raja in 1555. The palace acquired its present name in 1663 when the Dutch carried out some extensions and repairs to it. The main attractions of the palace lie in its wall murals that depict the scenes from the Ramayana.

Continue to the Jewish Synagogue at the heart of what is locally called Jew Town. The synagogue of the white Jews near Mattancherry palace is now a fascinating mixture of shops, warehouses and spice auction rooms.

At St. Francis Church you will discover the oldest European church in India. St. Francis Church was built in the early 16th-Century and it was here that the great explorer Vasco da Gama was first buried in 1562, before his mortal remains were taken back to Portugal by his son 16 years later.

You will also visit Santa Cruz Basilica. Originally built in 1557 by the Portuguese, the Santa Cruz Basilica was used as a warehouse by the British in the 18th-Century. The Basilica, with its beautiful carved wooden panels and pulpit, was rebuilt in the early 20th-Century.

Backwater cruise on Houseboat

Explore the famous Kerala backwaters of Alleppey on board a traditional houseboat.

Following a pick-up from Cochin Port at 08:30, transfer to Aleppey to board your houseboat at 10:00. Cruise slowly through the backwaters and village areas to marvel at the lush vegetation, paddy fields, coconut palms, and more. There will be 3 staff members to look after you and make sure your experience is as relaxed as you could wish for.

0930 hrs: Depart to Depart to Crawford Market (Fruit / Flowers / Vegetable / Pets Market)
1000 hrs: Arrive and visit Crawford Market.
1045 hrs: Depart to CST station (Victoria Terminus – World Heritage Site).
1055 hrs: Arrive at CST station to see the Mumbai local lifeline.
1110 hrs: Depart to the Dhobhi Ghat at Colaba (Open air laundry) enroute drive past Marine drive, Nariman Point, Mumbai University and High Court.
1130 hrs: Arrive and visit Dhobhi Ghat and enjoy a photo-stop of the washing place.
1145 hrs: Depart to visit Dabawalla.

1200 hrs: Arrive and visit Dabawalla.

Mumbai Chor Bazaar Tour & Slum Tour ON 15th APRIL

Mumbai’s largest flea market or Chor Bazaar is located in Bendi Bazaar. Stolen Cars, scooter parts, antiques, bollywood posters, second hand shoes are sold in Chor Bazaar Mumbai.

They Say – “If you loose anything in Mumbai, you can buy it back from the Chor Bazaar” . Chor bazaar is located in South Mumbai, near Bhendi Bazaar and is one of the largest flea markets in India.
The word “Chor” means a Thief in hindi. You can buy antiques, hardware tools, wooden cravings, silver coins, vintage stamps, brass statues etc.

Chor Bazaar can be divided into many small sub markets. As you enter the chor bazaar you will first pass through the automobile section of the thieves market. In the automobile section you will see various old scooters, bikes and cars being brought in and chopped down into small pieces and their spare parts are collected and sold to other small traders and shops in the market. It takes only a few minutes to chop down a second hand or a stolen car by four people in this market. Various car and scooter parts like engines, car doors, bike mud guards, scooter tyres, car tyres, metal frames are collected and sold to other shops. These spare parts, brakes, horns, engines are then sold to people wanting to buy them at throw away prices.From this junk yard you could rescue broken down car parts and build your own car. This is a paradise for automobile industry and automobile makers who want to create their machines from scratch.
